Brand Reference Guide
Visual System
Our brand tells the story of how Empyrean delivers a technological solution with a human touch. The circle provides a foundational element for our visual vocabulary.

A circle represents union, wholeness, commitment, and community.
Simple yet universal, the circle is a symbol of infinity, unity, and flow. Its continuous form suggests completeness, connection, and evolution. Within the Empyrean identity, it represents the relationship between individual elements and the greater whole they form.
Corporate Logo
Our logo is an essential part of our visual identity – a universal signature across our communications.
It’s made of 2 parts:

1. the “Helping Hand” symbol that simultaneously references three concepts:
-
a hand
-
file stack
-
the key letter "E"
2. the modern logotype for the word “EMPYREAN” — which means:
-
the highest heaven or celestial sphere
-
place or state of ideal happiness, enlightenment
-
relating to the sky, heavens, or celestial light
(The logotype font is Neutraface; reserve use solely for this logotype)

Provide Clear Space
Allow the mark to live within the space on any given piece of communication. The free (negative) space allows the logo to be clear of clutter and legible at different scales.
It is a good rule of thumb, to provide a minimum margin of clear space the size of the capital letter ‘M’ around the logo as indicated. Prevent graphics or text from encroaching into that margin.

The minimum amount of space around the logo hand symbol should be approximately 30% of the size of the circle.

The minimum amount of space around the logo hand symbol should be approximately 30% of the size of the circle.
Logo Variations

Fill Color – Process or PMS, Black, or White

The hand outline logo can be used as an all-white graphic over a background image or color that provides strong contrast

In some cases, the logo may need to be stacked due to limited horizontal space or for a desired effect. Use discretion when applying this format.
Background Fills
The logo’s "open" version takes on the background color of the field it rests on. In short, it's ok for part of an image to fill the open space of the hand logo. Assure an appropriate contrast and avoid filling with odd shapes that don't appear neutral.

Do Not Reverse
Do not make the logo hand symbol into a negative of the original. Always fill the circular element with the darker color.

Logo Best Practices

Do Not Modify
Do not resize or change the position of the logo mark.

Do Not Distort
Do not stretch the logo vertically or horizontally. Resizing it must be proportional.

Do Not Change Colors
Do not stretch the logo vertically or horizontally. Resizing it must be proportional.

Helping Hand
The “Helping Hand” symbol is versatile. It can stand alone as a seal, or graphic stamp in a field.
It can even be cropped and rotated provided the intended effect is displaying it as a large, hero-element.

Fonts
Across all communications we use Montserrat for headlines and Fira Sans for body copy. When using a very large headline you can use Montserrat ExtraBold.
Both typefaces should be available on Empyrean issued laptops.
RECOMMENDED TEXT COLORS
For white backgrounds use a blue or dark gray from the color set below.
For blue or gray backgrounds use white or a lighter color from the color set to accent call-out text.
See design examples at the bottom of the page.

Additional Graphic Elements
Simply stated, Empyrean offers technology and service to the benefits industry. We communicate those concepts in shorthand with the acronyms shown, or visually with the icons. They help to set the stage for dialogue about Empyrean.

Connect Graphics
Along with BenefitsGo, Empyrean offers the product Connect. Connect is a team app matching the client's brand, increasing employee attraction, engagement, and retention.

Colors
Our core brand palette is based around Ascend Blue and Cloud White supported by a kaleidoscope of colors, and neutral grays. Together, these colors create a clean, confident foundation that balances innovation with clarity. Ascend Blue serves as our primary brand color, conveying trust, momentum, and optimism, while Gray provides sophistication, stability, and contrast.
Across digital experiences, Ascend Blue can expand into expressive gradients that transition toward Zenith Indigo, adding depth, dimension, and a sense of forward movement. Lighter colors accent and bring focus to key information, helping to create visual hierarchy.
White provides balance and breathing room throughout the system, ensuring content remains approachable, legible, and easy to navigate. Together, the palette creates a modern, cohesive visual language that is distinctly Empyrean.

Secondary Colors
Our secondary colors consist of those found directly in the kaleidoscope. They are most often used in an instance of the kaleidoscope in a given composition but can be used individually to draw the eye or otherwise provide a contextual tone. Think special illustration, a custom kaleidoscope, chart stats, testimonial quotes, ‘need-to- know’ information, or a call to action.

Kaleidoscope
Like a kaleidoscope, an effective benefits program is made up of many individual elements that gain meaning through their connection to one another. The interplay of shapes, lines, and color reflects the dynamic relationship between people, processes, and technology, unifying various pieces into a cohesive and purposeful whole.

This is the hallmark Kaleidoscope that brings vibrancy and colorful dynamic energy to any design. It can be used in a slim crop rectangle to provide a bookend graphic, or as a dominant visual element with Ascend Blue revealing it (see design examples). The kaleidoscope easily draws the eye since it's often the most colorful element in a composition. It's visually musical in the rather quiet realm of ben admin.
WHAT NOT TO DO
Avoid overlaying it on photography, creating muddied colors or unnecessarily busy visuals.
If ever creating a kaleidoscope, begin with circles. Negative and positive spaces should have rhythm and balance. Allow color overlaps (multiply blending mode) to create our color palette. Keep in mind the golden ratio to achieve a focal point.

Plus Sign
+ + + + + + + + +
A distinctive graphic device within the Empyrean brand, is the plus sign. It introduces rhythm and texture while conceptually reinforcing the brand’s expert approach to ben admin involving technological framework, interoperable inclusion, and user connection.
A single plus is used in place of ampersands where appropriate.
It can be used in a row to provide visual separation within copy.
It can exist as a graphic grid of nine evenly spaced symbols in rectangular formation (arrange at least appx. fifteen rows vertically or columns horizontally). This instance serves as a contrast to curvilinear compositional elements.

Photography
When choosing photography, look for people creating, building, doing, or connecting. The hand images should not be disembodied, but connected – real.
Example themes: crafting, working, genuine gestures (i.e. a hand shake / fistbump), caring.

Avoid stock art imagery that looks staged; overwrought with graphics; faux-virtual; or obviously photo-shopped together.
